Parade of Daily Celebrations

Celebrate Every Day! I'll post (or try to post) something to day to celebrate each day, in some way. I try to keep it small, but some days call for more. I may not always get the date perfect (blame it on my sources) and I'll usually only focus onone or two celebrations, so please don't flame me if I miss your fave -- I may be saving it for next year!

Sorry for the late post -- pre-graduation panic is setting in :)

Today is Great Poetry Reading Day. Find a poem, long or short, and read it. Preferably alouyd, even if there's no one listening. Poems are meant to be spoken. Simple, huh? For extra karma, take a little time to reflect on it, personally, poetically, historically, fantastically, or otherwise. Need help finding a poem to read? Try Adrienne Rich, or Edgar Allen Poe, both of whom are associated with the State of Maryland, which joined the union on this date in 1788 as the seventh state.

P.S. Today is also Kiss Your Mate Day, but if you need to be reminded to do this, maybe you should be reading Advice Goddess or this article on marriage advice.

Well, most people already know that today is "Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day," which is a great and noble almost-tradition. But what about those of us who have no wee ones in our lives?

Well, today is also Tell A Story Day. Sit down with friends, family, a blog audience, or just your pet of choice and tell them a story. If you don't feel up to making one up, find a children's book or chapter to read to them. Still need ideas? Find an anecdote or story about Babe Ruth, Coretta Scott King, or Ulysses Grant, all of whom were born on this date.

Today is Administrative Professional's day. If you have a secretary, assistant, or whatever your title of choice, know and love one, or deal with one on a regular basis, remember to say thank you. You may think of it as a HallMark Holiday all you want, but a little kindness goes a long way.

If you are an Administrative Professional, of whatever stripe, pamper yourself a little. Get full fat instead of skinny on your latte, or get a manicure, or a new book, whatever your druther. You deserve it :)
